Basics of Computers, ICT & Digital Skills

This course gives an introduction to the computer, basic file management, Word processing and the basics of using Information and Communication technology (ICT) for education. The focus is on how web tools and several applications can be used effectively in the classroom. This course targets teachers with little or no computer experience.

Duration of course: 18 hours spread over 6 sessions

Maximum number of participants: 20 per group.

Basic Computer Applications

This course gives an introduction to the email, Excel and PowerPoint skills. The focus is on how these applications can be used effectively in the classroom and targets teachers with little or no computer experience.

Duration of course: 15 hours spread over 5 sessions

Maximum number of participants: 20 per group.

Using Handhelds – Smartphones, Tablets

Don’t own a laptop or PC? No problem! If you have an android phone and you can use the same device to create customized content for students. Teachers learn using various apps for performing many functions on the handheld device including creating their own customized content.

The Interactive Educator

Rather than just showing videos and PPTs in the classroom, teachers can log into Connected Classrooms and open i-Studio to make their own INTERACTIVE VIDEOS & INTERACTIVE PRESENTATIONS and deliver to students anywhere, anytime.

Smarter Teaching with Interactive WhiteBoards or Interactive Flat Panels

During this course, you’ll discover how to engage children with interactive and dynamic lessons and create outstanding interactive presentations. You’ll explore the complete range of tools and discover how to create your own multi-media lessons blending text, videos, and graphics. You’ll also look at specific ways to use this technology to make your lessons accessible to all students.

The Creator Educator

This course empowers each participant to effectively use ICT hardware, software and tools, author multi-media content, animated lessons, add voice to presentations. Teachers learn how to actively use technology to enhance the teaching/learning process rather than being passive acceptors of pre-developed content. This learning experience helps educators to create their own customized content and to integrate technology into classroom teaching.

Flipping the Classroom

The flipped classroom is a pedagogical model in which the typical lecture and homework elements of a course are reversed. Students view lectures at home, before the class session, while in-class time is devoted to exercises, projects, discussions and activities. Flipping is easy – and with a little thought and planning, teachers can use the flipped model to create engaging learning experiences for their students.
